A half day gone... Mizuno Wave Run 2005
Today woke up at 6am in the morning. Had a race at Kovan Hub (old bus interchange). bus diverted from my North Vista's friends meeting place. The race is called Mizuno Wave run, it was the second time in Singapore, so it was not so well-known then.
Reached the place at 6.46 according to my carabena watch i brought, walked back to the meeting place to look for them, no sign of them. Went to register first, hoping to see them on the way. Nope. Put in the lucky draw coupons. Worried. Went back to the meeting place to caught up with them, initiated the search again. No findings. Went back to the race's starting place. Walked for several minutes, people doing warm-up exercises. 15 minutes to the race start, still no images of them. Sat on an open place, ready to be spotted. Ya! it worked, wei en came forward. he looked 'sotong' to me. He mentioned he was late and asked if i had already met marcus and niger. i replied --> No. Checked the registration counter to see if they are there. Made an announcement to find them. All hopes was lost. Approached the counter to see if number is taken down during registration. Organisers said no, so i asked wei en to run first. And so we ran.
There we are on the running line and still searching for our friends. At 7.30am sharp, race started. On the way, i felt not well after the first water point, then wei en stopped. Thereafter, wei en stopped, i am fine now, i continued. A moment later we lost contact. i stood running with constant pause. As i cut people pace, using various techniques of stamina and sprinting. i amnaged to complete the race in 52 minutes. Later part of the day, i realised i lost to the Men's Open champion by 20 minutes. What a phew! Nevertheless, i am happy with my achievement of completing the race without a problem. Of course on the way i stopped to catch my breathe as my energy level was going low. The funny thing is that my legs were not tired, but my stomach muscle was contracting. Maybe i did not eat well that morning.
Then i went to Heartland mall to buy 100 Plus and wash myself up with a gym towel which i had put on my back throughout the race. Yes, soaking with sweat. Yee! Went to the hawker centre to eat, hoping to find my friends. No chance! While i was eating my char tiao kwek, met a family of active runners, one adult two children. Had a nice talk because of the race as the topic. They told me this race was the second time in Singapore only. MP Cyndia Koh was there for the start and end of the race. Lucky draw was there. i waited. Therefore talked quite a lot from the family. Nice making friends.
On the halfway of race, the MC gave out the prizes to the winners of the race and made people waiting for the lucky draw panicking. Anyway the best timing for Men's open was 31.31 to 34.??
and Women's open was 39.?? to 45.??. So to conclude men run faster than women in general. Fun competition. Then after the lucky draw, the Red Bull Drinks were given out to participants.
At eleven am, went home. Shagg!! Had a bathe, packed my things a bit then go to sleep. At 2pm or so, someone woke me up, a person woke me up with phone call. There i chatted with person for 2 hours. Came back to do my stuffs. Parents went out while sleeping. At 6pm or so, came back. What a rain today after 12 noon. Good for sleeping if not for the phone call.
Ate dinner of bread and roti prata, not hungry to take big servings. Just had a run of 10km in 52 minutes. Set a record for myself to achieve better results next time. Do stuffs again.
Now! overshot liao! The tv show drama, "My Date With A Vampire III". So that is all for today. Since yesterday go for a 1)Yellow Ribbon Project and 2)Minds Sports Day at NYP.
